The Project

This here is a game developed for and during the 2024 Fall Cougar Cup Game Jam. It is a project, which we have always wanted to develop and this jam incentivised us to produce such a project. We honestly hope you enjoy the game, and if you do not please tell us why. We always love to receive feedback to help improve our games. 

The Gameplay

The idea of the game, is for you the player to improve and build upon a farm you find whilst also defending it. You can, farm upon the land (Planting & Harvesting), upgrading / purchasing, all whilst defending your land. Each wave lasts for approximately 2 minutes whilst intermission lasts for 5 minutes giving you plenty of time to prepare before the horde arrives. 

Bugs

Of course, with any new game. Especially one of this standing. There will be bugs. So here is a list of bugs, which we know about. Feel free to submit feedback if you find any more. 

- When buying crops or items which travel to the inventory. There is currently no system in place to prevent you buying items even when your inventory is full. 
- Crops improper position - When a crop is planted, the seeds look fine, but when it's grow increases, the crops appear to be off the farm land. 
- Audio - The game is missing vital audio. Like footsteps, grunts, zombie noises, timer tick, and more. 
- Farm & Inventory - When you stand on the farm land, and happen to open your inventory your player will tip over, but when the inventory is closed again. You will bounce back up, well at least in my experience you will. 
- NPC Attacking - The NPC will attack, but it's like one enemy every spawning cycle.
- When planting crops, if you plant multiple crops on the same piece of farm land, those excess crops will just disappear from your inventory. 

Some of these bugs are indeed weird, but have no fear we are working on them to bring a brighter and more exciting future to the game.

To Come

So. With every game, there is always more to add and improve. So, this is a list of items, system and improvements which we wish to eventually add to this game.

- Bug Fixes Obviously
- More enemies, e.g. skeletons, rangers etc.
- More fluctuation with the timer, varying each time it resets
- More audio. Better audio.
- Possibly an entire asset re-design. Custom assets, so we are not having to find & merge assets which were created by others. 
- In-game pause menu
- Saving System
- Selling System
- NPC Revival System - So when an NPC dies, you can heal / revive them
- Main Menu: Options & Save Loading
- Pause Menu: Options & Game Saving
- Shop prices. Currently the shop doesn't show prices for anything besides swords.
